ARTIFACT is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new mixed-media paintings by Marian Osher. An opening reception for the artist will take place on Wednesday October 7, from 6 to 8 PM. The exhibition will be on view from October 7 through October 25, 2015.

Marian Osher’s paintings invite the viewer to reflect upon the memories, stories, industry and foods that echo the ethnic diversity and cultures that have shaped the Lower East Side. The changing landscape of L.E.S. fortunately still retains visible reminders which are today’s footprints of the past.

“My paintings reflect the blending of past and present, and are colored and textured by the emotions I have experienced during my exploration of the Lower East Side. To me, L.E.S represents beginnings, growing pains, assimilation, and the flowering of the richness of ethnic diversity that generations of immigrants have brought to this country. So many of our families’ stories began in L.E.S. The echoes of the past give us strength in the present, and are filtered by our memories.”

A Maryland artist and frequent traveler to New York, Osher brings an outsider’s perspective as she explores the vibrant diversity of the Lower East Side in her colorful mixed-media paintings.

L.E.S. Echoes is Marian Osher’s twenty-first solo show in the US. Her artwork has been included in exhibitions in Australia, South America, Europe, Asia, and North America.
